came about out of necessity. Gramma Susi's daughter's much
loved hand knitted baby blanket had seen better days. After
over two decades of daily use and weekly washings the hand
knitted blanket was in need of some repair. Gramma Susi's
mother, Virginia, who had knitted this heirloom over twenty
years before as a baby gift, had passed away. A decision was
made to "retire" Gramma Susi's daughter's treasured heirloom
for a "replacement" blanket, hand knitted by Gramma
Susi.
When
Gramma Susi completed this "replacement" blanket, her
daughter immediately "retired" it to the closet "shrine"
next to the original. Deeming this blanket too special to be
used, she asked that another matching blanket be hand -
knitted for daily use. After repeated requests for more
hand-knitted blankets in a rainbow of colors, Gramma Susi
had soon hand knitted blankets for all her own children and
all her grandchildren and friends who had requested
them.
